Clinical exercise & pilates sessions are a physiotherapy-led program that supports your recovery process and improves the function of your body. Physiotherapists apply their knowledge of biomechanics and pathology to prescribe a clinical exercise program that targets the core stabilisers improves muscle control and endurance. We use Pilates reformers, trapeze tables, weights, kettlebells, resistance bands, and floor-based exercise to help facilitate your movement and recovery. Based on Pilates inspired movement, we have exercises designed by physiotherapists to improve core stability, target spinal pain and assist in injury prevention and recovery.

Clinical Exercise & Pilates Sessions at Backfocus

A physiotherapist will conduct a musculoskeletal assessment and will discuss goals, identify a program and to teach you how to activate your core muscles correctly. Your program will incorporate closely supervised sessions on the clinical exercise and pilates equipment once or twice per week for six to ten weeks. You may then progress to group sessions or move purely to a home program.

Is a GP referral required?

A GP referral is not required to see a physiotherapist for a clinical exercise session or an initial consultation with a physiotherapist.
The only exception is if you are referred on a Chronic Disease Management program. Your GP will refer you to a physiotherapist, this referral will need to be brought to your first appointment.

Can my I claim this service on private health insurance?

Attending an initial assessment with a physiotherapist could allow you to claim private health insurance rebates on your subsequent clinical exercise & pilates sessions.
